If I could describe myself in 5 words. I would say friendly, organised, hard working, creative and kind.

I live in Weybridge with my partner and 5 year old boy. When we are not working we enjoy nothing more than being in our caravan and travelling to different destinations.

I am passionate about being a tutor and love what I do. I have been fortunate enough to work with some wonderful families who have children of differing ages and abilities. Over the last few years I have worked with families who home Educate and have supported students with additional needs. I count myself lucky to be working with such amazing students and I hope to continue to work as a tutor and meet more amazing young people.

MY PROFILE

I have worked with children pretty much since leaving college after achieving my Diploma in Childcare and Education. I became a Nursery Nurse and worked in a Nursery settings for a time and worked my way up to Base Room Manager.

In the following years I worked for a long time in a Private Preparatory school as a Teaching Assistant where I completed my Degree in Early Years Education. I was a temporary nanny in school holidays working for many families over the years to cover school holidays.

I took a year out of work to undertake my PGCE to become a Qualified Primary School Teacher. I worked in a school in Ashford for my NQT year and then worked in a school in Stanwell for the next 4 years until I had my son, who is now 5 years old.

When my son was born, I worked as a nanny for families who allowed a nanny with own child. I was lucky enough to work with two wonderful families. During this time I began tutoring students on a part time basis. Now I am tutoring full time.

I am also employed by Surrey Adult Learning as a tutor, preparing and delivering classes for adults with additional needs which has given me additional skills and experience in special needs.

Tutoring Experience

In the last 5 years I have been tutoring primary aged children and learners with additional needs. I tutor both face to face and online. I enjoy tutoring because it means I can give students my undivided attention which means I can understand that particular child's knowledge and skills on a far deeper level. This is where my Early Years background really helps as I can identify different learning styles and adapt the way I teach to suit each child. This is very much a part of the Early Years Curriculum so I am used to being reflective and using different strategies to help children learn to the best of their ability. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to see how children grow and learn and most of all gain in confidence so they are able to learn more effectively in all their subjects.
